The CipherLab CPT8500 can read RFID [radio frequency identification] tags and can also include either a laser or Linear Imager or 2D scanner. The CPT8500 has a Large 3, 160×160 pixels, LED Backlit, signature capable, splashproof touch screen, and is rated at the IP64 Specification. Thus, making it ideal for environments such as the logistics, transportation, and distribution industries.

With a rugged and robust design, the CPT8500 can withstand drops from 1.8m onto concrete. Vibration Feedback, Long Operating hours and Memory capable of up to 8Mb make the CPT8500 a cost effective PDA based RFID scanner that marks a breakthrough in ready-to-use and user-programmable RFID mobile computing technology.
